Bio
Therapy speaks to something deeply human. We all need to feel heard and understood. We all need to feel safe and supported. I offer a collaborative, non-judgemental space to help meet those needs.
Together, we can find relief, build resilience, and restore a sense of hope. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to go through it alone.
I’m an IAHIP-accredited psychotherapist with an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I favour a person-centred approach with an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I draw from gestalt, psychodynamic, sensorimotor, and cognitive-behavioural traditions as needed, but the focus is always on what feels relevant and helpful to you.
I’ve worked with clients facing a wide range of challenges, from acute distress to long-standing patterns that can be harder to name. This might include anxiety, grief, relationship issues, or questions around identity and meaning.
Some clients come with a specific concern; others come with a sense that something’s not quite right. Whatever shape it takes, it’s worth exploring.
I also work in a neuro-affirming way with clients who identify as neurodivergent. Much of this work has been with adults who received a late diagnosis or are exploring that possibility for themselves. I also support clients in integrating peak or non-ordinary experiences, whether they’ve come through meditation, spiritual practice, or psychedelic use.
If you’re feeling unsure, that’s okay. Therapy is a commitment, and it asks something of you. I offer a free consultation, in person or online, so that we can get a sense of how it might feel to work together. However you move forward, I’m glad you’re looking for support.

I am a compassionate and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, Registered General Nurse and Registered Paediatric Nurse, with over 30 years of experience supporting children, adults and families across healthcare and community settings.
As an integrative practitioner, I recognise that no two people are the same and that there is no single therapeutic approach that meets everyone’s needs. I aim to work collaboratively with each client, drawing on appropriate therapeutic perspectives to support their individual circumstances, experiences and goals. My intention is to help clients explore their feelings, develop greater self-understanding, recognise their strengths and discover their own resources for coping, healing and personal growth.
My particular areas of interest include perinatal mental health, having completed the Perinatal Mental Health Course in DKIT (supporting the emotional and psychological wellbeing of individuals and families during pregnancy, the postnatal period and the transition to parenthood, including those experiencing antenatal and postnatal anxiety and depression, birth trauma, pregnancy loss and infertility) grief and loss, resilience and preventative mental healthcare. I recognise that significant life transitions can bring complex emotions and challenges, and I am passionate about helping individuals.
I understand that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. My aim is to offer a confidential, compassionate and supportive environment where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, without fear of judgement, and work towards the changes that feel meaningful to you. I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, valued and supported. It is a privilege to accompany individuals on their journey towards greater self-awareness, emotional wellbeing and a more compassionate relationship with themselves.

narcissistic abuse, trauma, self-esteem issues, and sensory processing sensitivity (being highly sensitive), drawing from her own innate understanding of these struggles.
A passionate advocate for mental wellbeing, Ciara is deeply committed to supporting her
healthcare professional colleagues. Her Masters’ research, The Wounded Healer, directly explored the unique needs and challenges faced by frontline healthcare professionals in therapy, including the pervasive issues of stigma in seeking help and emotional detachment within the medical culture. Ciara has also held pharmacist advocacy roles, such as
mentoring pharmacists and supporting their wellbeing during COVID-19 and beyond. Acutely aware of frontline demands, Ciara creates a safe and confidential space that supports healthcare professionals’ resilience and personal growth.
Ciara’s collaborative pluralistic therapeutic approach is tailored to your unique needs and empowers you to use your own strengths and resources to achieve your goals and find meaning. Ciara challenges the conventional view that psychological distress is something ‘wrong’ with a person, instead reframing it as an opportunity for awakening towards authenticity and meaning. Ciara cultivates a reflective and empathetic space, prioritising your
safety, especially when trust has been broken. Ciara’s goal is to guide you towards greater clarity, inner strength, and a renewed sense of purpose, making your healing path feel fully supported and less overwhelming.

Psychoanalysis emphasises the unconscious — the hidden force that shapes who we are and what we do. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy provides a space to explore the unconscious, fostering insight into the motivations and emotional patterns that influence how we experience ourselves and others. Rooted in Object Relations theory, Sandra’s approach examines how early relationships with caregivers — or objects— shape our sense of self and influence how we relate to others in adulthood.
This kind of psychotherapy can be particularly beneficial for a wide range of issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, loss, relationship issues, and sexuality. It encourages a deeper understanding of oneself by inviting you to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, memories, and dreams, all within a compassionate environment that respects your individual pace. While progress is singular and gradual, this depth-oriented approach offers lasting and meaningful change well beyond the conclusion of treatment.
Sandra offers low-cost psychoanalytic psychotherapy to adults aged 18 and over. Day and evening appointments are available.

A Systemic Psychotherapist works with individuals, couples, and families in the context of their relationships. The therapist helps to identify patterns of communication, explore new ways of communicating and creates space to explore worries and emotions. Sessions are client-led, and the aim is to engage in meaningful conversations that offer the individual, couple, or family different ways to view the difficulties they are experiencing and create new meaning for their relationships.
