This painting draws on the inspiration of The Children of Lir and through its composition depicts a journey of healing and of overcoming the challenges, struggles and obstacles that we all face.
Each swan represents a different point of that journey, from our despair and aloneness, through hope and supportive guidance to peace and serenity.
Represented in ancient Irish Ogham script are the words Speech, Reason and Dignity, with which the children's stepmother Aoife left them, as she transformed them into swan form.
Furthermore, within the swans' feathers and throughout the painting are quotes from the story, embodying the emotions and humanity of life and learning.
This beautiful bespoke canvas is on display at the entrance to Four Swans. We commissioned the incredibly talented local artist Elizabeth Lodge to create a very special piece of art for us and she really embraced our vision and brought it to life.
Be sure to take a moment to appreciate the fine detail when you come for your appointment.
