Ciara McEvoy is a psychotherapist and practising HSE pharmacist in the Mental Health Service. Ciara has a Masters (MSc) in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP).
Ciara’s expertise is assisting clients to navigate life’s transitions such as post-natal experiences, parenting challenges, diagnosis of chronic illness, health issues, work issues, relationship difficulties (particularly challenging family dynamics), carer burden, and bereavement. Ciara specialises in treating clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, narcissistic abuse, trauma, self-esteem issues, and sensory processing sensitivity (or being highly sensitive).
As a pharmacist with over 25 years’ experience, Ciara has had thousands of conversations with patients about the issues they struggle with most and how it impacts their physical health. Ciara believes that a lot of chronic illnesses and symptoms can result from unresolved trauma, life challenges, or relationship difficulties. Awareness of this can empower clients to navigate their healthcare journeys with clarity, compassion, and confidence.
Ciara is also passionate about supporting the mental health of her healthcare professional colleagues and has held a number of pharmacist advocacy roles such as mentoring pharmacists and supporting their mental wellbeing during COVID-19. Ciara is acutely aware of the working demands on frontline healthcare professionals and has completed research on the unique needs of the healthcare professional client. She understands the challenges we face and strives to create a safe and empathetic space for growth and resilience.
Ciara offers a pluralistic therapeutic approach to her clients, utilising their strengths, values, preferences and own resources to empower them to achieve their goals and find meaning and purpose in their lives.
