Professional Bio – Play Therapy
Karen is a Trainee Play Therapist with over 18 years of experience working with children in
educational and supportive roles. She holds an Honours Degree in Early Childhood
Education and a Postgraduate qualification in Child, Family and Community Studies,
providing a strong foundation in child development, attachment, and relational practice.
Karen is currently completing specialist training in Play Therapy with APAC in partnership
with University College Cork. Her therapeutic approach is child-centred and play-based,
recognising play as a child’s natural language and a vital means of communication. Through
the therapeutic use of play, Karen supports children to express emotions, make sense of
experiences, and develop emotional regulation and resilience within a safe and containing
environment.
